Alex Morales added 13, but it wasn't enough, as the Wagner College men's basketball team concluded its Western Pennsylvania road trip with a 94-62 loss to Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 4-11 this year and 1-3 in conference play, while the Colonials improve to 8-10 on the season and 4-0 in league play.
Wagner got out to a fast start and took its first lead on a Cobb jumper three minutes into the contest. The first half featured five ties and eight lead changes in a classic NEC battle, and consecutive threes by junior
Nigel Jackson and Cobb made it a 20-15 game with 7:09 to play in the first period.
The Colonials answered and a 20-2 run to close out the first half turned the tide, as RMU took a 35-22 halftime lead.
The Seahawks fought back and two consecutive baskets by Cobb, including a traditional three-point play with 16:19 to play cut into the deficit, but Robert Morris pulled away midway through the second half to stay undefeated in league play.
Wagner shot 23-56 (42.9%) on the day and hit four threes in the first half. Junior point guard
Chase Freeman once again led the Seahawks with six assists, while first-year Seahawk
Darion Jordan-Thomas led the Green and White with seven rebounds while also contributing six points off the bench.
As a team, the Seahawks held a 36-31 advantage on the glass.
For Cobb, it was the fourth 20-point game of the season and second in conference play, while Morales scored in double digits for the 12
th time this year.
Next up, the Seahawks' annual Basketball Alumni Day event will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2020, when Wagner hosts St. Francis Brooklyn for a doubleheader at the Spiro Sports Center.
