Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's lacrosse team, under the direction of first-year head coach
Bill McCutcheon, will conclude the 2019 season on Saturday, April 27 in a high noon faceoff vs. the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Senior Day at Hameline Field.
Prior to the game, the Seahawks will honor their 14 graduating seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
Wagner enters Saturday's play with a 2-11 record and a 0-5 mark in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Pioneers are 8-5 overall and 3-2 in league play.
The Seahawks dropped a 14-6 decision at Saint Joseph's last Saturday despite a standout performance from sophomore defenseman
Kyle Stofko, an effort that earned him #NECPrimePerformer accolades.
Against the Hawks, Stofko tallied Wagner's final goal of the game early in the fourth quarter, drawing the Seahawks within 10-6. The score came on a brilliant individual effort as the Churchville, MD native forced a turnover and collected the ground ball, before sprinting ahead of the field for his first career goal. In addition to his first career score, Stofko registered a career-tying and game-high five caused turnovers, in addition to threw ground balls, which gives him a team-best 30 caused turnovers.
Wagner is paced in scoring by senior midfielder and tri-captain
Spencer Kaufman (17g, 6a), along with freshman attackman
Stephen Dwyer (12g, 11a), who have amassed 23 points apiece. Junior attackman
Dominic Branda checks in third on the team with 22 points (17g, 5a), while senior attackman and tri-captain
John Norton is fourth in scoring with 19 points (12g, 7a).

Nick Warren has won 131-of-187 faceoffs (.456) and has a team-leading 58 ground balls, with senior defenseman
Riley Owens second with 38 GBs. Defensively, in addition to Stofko's 30 CTs and 28 GBs, senior tri-captain
Kevin Doherty (9gb, 16ct) and senior
Connor Davis (15gb, 7ct) have been stalwarts all season.
In goal, senior
Matt Sefcik checks in with a .540 save percentage and an 11.56 goals against average. Additionally, Sefcik, who has played all 57 games in his Seahawk career with 56 starts, ranks No. 2 among all active NCAA D-I goalie (and No. 2 all-time at Wagner), with 674 career saves.
