Lexington, VA – The No. 16 Wagner women's water polo team travels to Lexington, VA to compete at VMI on March 9 against Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents St. Francis Brooklyn and Iona.
Last time out, the 12-5 Seahawks finished the Indiana Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record, defeating No. 23 Cal State Northridge, No. 20 Indiana, Mercyhurst and Salem International.
Redshirt junior
Kristy Donkin currently ranks atop the MAAC in total assists with 35 thus far. Senior
Erica Hardy is tied for first in points with St. Francis Brooklyn's Kelsey Snelgar, as both have 64 points apiece.
Two-time Rookie of the Week and
Offensive Player of the week,
Sofia Diaz Alvarez is fourth in the MAAC in both goals (47) and points (60).
Sophomore
Katherine Campbell sits in third among the league's saves leaders with 89 behind Iona's Jordin Hale (157) and VMI's Isabel French (146).
Second year
Daisy Nankervis leads the MAAC in steals, having grabbed 37, while Hardy is not far behind in fourth with 30 steals of her own.
The Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn are 1-11 on the 2019 campaign, having defeated the Saint Francis U Red Flash with a final score of 12-6 on February 3. Iona is 5-11 on the season, most recently falling to No. 24 Bucknell (8-4) and UC Davis (14-4) at Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, MA last weekend. The Gaels defeated Toronto on March 2 by a count of 9-5.
On Saturday, March 9, the Seahawks will compete against the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers at 9:00 a.m. before taking on the Iona Gaels in a 1:30 p.m. swim off to conclude the weekend.
Following this weekend, Wagner will travel to Los Angeles, CA for the LMU Invite on March 15-16.
