La Jolla, CA – The Wagner women's water polo team saw its 2026 NCAA Tournament run come to an end on Friday afternoon, falling to top-seeded No. 1 Stanford by a final score of 18-6 in the quarterfinal round at the Canyonview Aquatic Center.
Stanford opened the contest with a strong first quarter, building a 4-1 lead and showcasing their offensive depth. The Cardinal continued to apply pressure, extending their advantage to 11-2 by halftime, effectively controlling both ends of the pool.
Wagner found more offensive rhythm in the second half, putting away four goals over the final two quarters. Senior captain
Magali Ogg led the charge for the Seahawks with a hat trick, while junior
Maylen Sampedro Tarela added a pair of goals and freshman
Lacey Aquaro chipped in with one. Junior Ana Arias Pérez facilitated the offense, dishing out a team-high three assists. Despite the Seahawks' resilient efforts, Stanford's firepower proved too much to overcome, as the Cardinal carried a 14-4 lead into the fourth quarter and closed out the match with the 18-6 victory.

Francesca Sena played the first three quarters for Wagner, recording six saves and a team-high four steals. Freshman Maria Matamala Roman took over in the fourth quarter, adding one save.
The Seahawks conclude another historic season, capturing their 13th MAAC Championship in program history, earning a thrilling NCAA Tournament opening-round victory over Concordia University Irvine, and continuing to establish themselves on the national stage.
