Staten Island, NY – The 6-2 Wagner women's lacrosse team puts its five-game winning streak on the line on Sunday, March 24 when the Seahawks host Presbyterian their final non-conference game of the season in a noon start at Hameline Field.
Wagner is paced by its sophomore midfield tandem of
Erin Kerstetter and
Madeline Seims. The 5-1 Kerstetter, one of the fastest players in the nation, has 14 goals and nine assists on the season, good for a team-best 23 points. The Shamong, NJ native also leads the Seahawks in draw controls with 41, a figure that ranks 39
th nationally.
Seims, meanwhile, is the Seahawks' leading goal-scorer with 19 with all of her points coming on goals, while her 25 draw controls rank second on the team. Yet another sophomore midfielder,
Victoria Tucci, is tied with Seims for second on the team in scoring with her 19 points coming on 10 goals and nine assists.
Junior attack
Stephanie Falcone is fourth in scoring with 18 points, which have come on 16 goals (No. 2 on the team), to go along with two assists. Tied for fifth in scoring with 14 points (10g, 4a) are sophomore attack
Stefani Peluso and senior attack
Anna Belle Reilly (10g, 4a), the latter of whom suffered a season-ending leg injury against Colgate back on March 3.
Defensively, the Seahawks are led by senior
Maddie Courtney, who leads the team in both ground balls (25) and caused turnovers (11). Wagner's other starting defenders, senior
Maggie Jent (12 gbs, 11 ct) and junior
Lindsay Haas (13 gbs, 11a), have also played a major role in Wagner's 6-2 start to the season.
In goal, redshirt senior
Kelsey Fee has been a stalwart throughout the season and enters Sunday's play ranked 11
th nationally in goals against average (8.74) and 16
th in save percentage.
Wagner will be the third straight Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent that Presbyterian is facing, falling 16-4 at Central Connecticut and, most recently, dropping an 18-7 decision at LIU Brooklyn on Friday.
Following Sunday's contest against Presbyterian, the Seahawks will begin a stretch of seven consecutive NEC games to cap the 2019 regular season.
