New Haven, CT – The Wagner College women's basketball team wraps up its non-conference season on New Year's Eve with a 4:00 p.m. tip-off against Ivy League member, Yale. Tuesday's contest will be streamed on ESPN+. 


Wagner All-Time vs. Yale: 
  • Wagner and Yale will be meeting for just the seventh time in program history with the Bulldogs leading the head-to-head series, 6-0.


Wagner All-Time Against The Ivy League:
  • All-time against the members of the Ivy League, Wagner sports a 23-31 overall record. 
  • The Seahawks boast a 16-8 all-time mark against Columbia. 
  • The Green & White have yet to pick up victories against Brown (0-1), Harvard (0-2), University of Pennsylvania (0-2) and Yale (0-6). 
  • Wagner is looking to stop an eight-game losing streak to Ivy League members, last earning a 97-86 home triumph over Columbia back on December 30, 2014. 


Last Time Out For Wagner: 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards poured in a game-best 21 points while sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava notched her second double-double of the year but it wasn't enough as Colgate defeated the Seahawks, 74-58, on Sunday, December 22, at Cotterell Court.
  • Edwards converted on 8-of-15 shooting from the field while hitting on 5-of-10 from three-point range in 36 minutes of action. It marked the seventh straight contest in which the London, England native reached double-figures; she also dished out four assists.
  • Krista Grava notched her third career double-double, pouring in 17 points and pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. The senior duo of Jordan Hobson and Janelle Mullen combined for 17 points with Mullen netting nine points in just her second game of the 2019-20 season. 
  • Colgate was paced by Rachel Thompson and Teagan Graham, who both finished in double digits. Thompson hit for a team-high 15 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out six helpers. Graham netted 13 points as the two Raiders combined to go 12-of-20 from the field.
  • Ava Williams came within a point of recording a double-double for Colgate, as she ended the contest with nine points and grabbed ten caroms in the victory.


A Win Over Yale Would: 
  • snap a three-game losing streak for the Green and White.
  • be the program's first-ever win against Yale (0-6).
  • end an eight-game losing streak to Ivy League members
  • be Head Coach Heather Jacobs' first victory against an Ivy League opponent (0-5). 


About Yale:  
  • Yale enters play with an 8-3 overall record after picking up a 66-63 road win at ACC member, North Carolina, on Saturday down in Chapel Hill. 
  • The Bulldogs have three players averaging double-figures, led by Roxy Barahman, who's pouring in 16.0 ppg while leading the team in assists (3.5 apg) and minutes played (30.8). 
  • Camilla Emsbo was named Ivy League Player of the Week for the second time this season after scoring 23 points in 23 minutes in Yale's 87-40 victory over fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, Sacred Heart, on Thursday. She's second on the team in scoring at 15.7 ppg while leading the Bulldogs on the boards, pulling down 9.0 rpg. 
  • Ellen Margaret Andrews is the third Yale player to average double digits, as she has netted 15.6 ppg while hitting on 48.8 percent from the field and converting on 43.0 percent from the outside. 
  • Collectively, the Bulldogs are scoring 73.5 ppg, grabbing 38.9 rebounds and dishing out 14.3 apg while committing just 14.4 turnovers a contest and forcing 16.7. 
  • The Bulldogs are 3-1 at home this season. 


Road Bump:
  • Tuesday's contest at Yale is the final non-conference road tilt of the 2019-20 season for the Seahawks.
  • Wagner will be looking for its first road win of the year.
  • In five road games this season, the Green & White have averaged 55.4 ppg, 31.4 rpg, 12.0 apg, and caused 23.4 turnovers. 
  • Overall, Wagner will look to stop a seven-game road losing streak, as their last win away from Grymes Hill came on February 23, 2019 at Fairleigh Dickinson, when the Seahawks defeated the Knights, 60-44, in Teaneck, NJ. 
  • Three Seahawks have scored in double-figures away from the Spiro Sports Center, led by freshman guard Alex Cowan, who is pouring in a team-best 19.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg. 
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava is next at 10.6 ppg while junior Khaleah Edwards has netted 10.5 ppg, grabbed 5.3 rpg. 


Cowan Among Top-25 Rookies In NCAA: 
  • According to natstat.com, freshman Alex Cowan is among the top-25 freshmen in the country in scoring (13.9 ppg).
  • In the Northeast Conference (NEC), Cowan ranks second among all-freshmen in scoring and assists as the first-year Seahawk point guard trails only St. Francis Brooklyn's Nevena Dimitrijevic in both categories (14.2 ppg | 6.9 apg).
  • Cowan, who has pulled down 4.7 rpg, ranks third among NEC-freshmen in rebounds, trailing only Jenna Jordan from St. Francis Brooklyn (6.1 rpg) and Katie Dettwiller from Saint Francis U (4.9 rpg). 


Dialing It Up From Deep: 
  • The Seahawks are among the top-75 in the nation in three-point field goals made per game, averaging 7.4 a contest. 
  • Alex Cowan and Khaleah Edwards are first and second in the Northeast Conference (NEC), respectively, in three-point field goal percentage, as Cowan has hit on 43.2 percent from the outside while Edwards sits at 42.9 percent. 


Next Up For Wagner:
  • Wagner opens Northeast Conference (NEC) action on Thursday, January 2, as the Seahawks travel to Mount St. Mary's for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off at Knott Arena.
