Queens, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team outscored Big East Member St. John's 44-43 in the second half, but the Red Storm used a strong first period to earn an 86-63 victory at Carnesecca Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Four Seahawks scored in double figures, as juniors Elijah Ford and Nigel Jackson contributed 12 points apiece, while sophomore Tyrone Nesby IV and junior Alex Morales scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Ford also paced the Seahawks with 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. The junior has now scored in double figures in each of his three starts.

As a team, Wagner held a slight 38-37 advantage on the glass and 11-10 lead in second chance points.

The Red Storm jumped out to an early 12-6 lead and extended their advantage at the end of the first period to take a 43-19 lead at the half, as Mustapha Heron paced all players with 18 points.

In the second half, the Seahawks came out fighting, as a layup with Jackson with 15:22 to play capped a 6-0 scoring run and forced St. John's to call timeout. Jackson scored 11 of his 12 points, including two three-pointers, in the second period.
An 8-3 run later in the half, powered by threes from Jackson and Nesby, further cut into the deficit with 7:45 to play, but the Red Storm closed out the game to earn the victory.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 2-5 on the season, while St. John's improves to 6-2 this year.

Saturday's game also marked the first collegiate action for freshman Darion Jordan-Thomas, who finished the game with six points and four rebounds.
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Hartford on December 14, with tip-off set for 2:00 PM.
