Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team took an 84-82 lead with 12 seconds to play in the overtime period but could not hold on to the late lead, as Stony Brook came away with an 87-84 overtime victory at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 2-4 on the year, while the Seawolves improve to 5-2 on the young season.

Alex Morales set the Seahawks up with a chance to win the game in regulation on a traditional three point play with 1:06 remaining to give Wagner a 73-71 advantage, before repeating the feat with 24 seconds to play in the overtime period to make It 83-80 in favor of the Green and White.
Morales was one of four Seahawks who scored in double figures as he finished with 14 points, while junior
Nigel Jackson led Wagner with 22 points on 8-11 shooting, including 6-8 from deep. Sophomore Tyrone Nesby IV finished with 19 points, including five three pointers, while junior
Elijah Ford also scored in double figures in his second consecutive start, contributing 15 points and six rebounds.
After the Seawolves jumped out to an eight-point lead early on, Wagner went on an 8-0 run that concluded on a Morales jumper with 14:43 to tie the game. Both teams battled for the remainder of regulation, as the contest featured a total of 13 ties.
Wagner's first lead of the contest came with two minutes remaining in the second half, as a Morales field goal gave Wagner a 71-69 advantage. A three by Jackson then gave Wagner a 78-77 advantage early in the overtime period, before Stony Brook stormed back to earn the late victory.
Both teams also competed evenly on the glass, as the Seawolves held a narrow 36-35 rebounding advantage.
For the game, Wagner shot 15-28 (53.6%) from distance, while connecting on 17-23 free throws (73.9%).
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Wagner will travel to Big East member St. John's on Saturday, November 30, with tip-off scheduled for 12 pm.
