Jersey City, NJ – The Wagner College men's basketball team will take the road for the second straight time to take on MAAC member Saint Peter's on Wednesday night, with tip-off set for 7:00 PM on ESPN+.

Cobb's Historic Performance

Graduate student Curtis Cobb III made history against Wesley, scoring 40 points and shooting 13-22 from the field. Cobb's performance marked the most points ever scored by a Wagner player at the Spiro Sports Center, beating Marcus Burton's 38 points from January 5, 2015 against Mount St. Mary's. The graduate student's performance also marked the 10th 40-point game in Wagner history, while his 10 made three-pointers fell one short of tying the school record set by Joey Mundweiler at Monmouth on February 28, 2009. Overall, Cobb finished 10-15 from long range, with 22 of his points coming in the first half.

Offensive Balance

Through four games of the season, the Seahawks have three players averaging double figures in Cobb and juniors Alex Morales and Will Martinez. Cobb leads the way with 20.8 points per game, while Morales checks in at 13.3 points per contest, having scored 15 or more points in three of four games. Martinez is the third Seahawk averaging double figures with 11.5 points per game.

Jackson Back In Action

Against NJIT, junior Nigel Jackson made his season debut after missing the first three games of the season due to injury. Last season, Jackson made 16 starts at forward for the Seahawks and is the 11th player to suit up for Wagner this season as the Green and White look to return to full health.

Homecoming

Wednesday's game marks a homecoming for Seahawk head coach Bashir Mason. Mason grew up in Jersey City before enjoying a stellar playing career at both St. Benedict's Prep of Newark and Drexel University. Mason's coaching career also started at St Benedict's Prep under Dan Hurley, where he coached a plethora of players that would go on to earn Division I scholarships.

The Series

Despite the close proximity between Wagner and Saint Peter's, the Seahawks and Peacocks will meet for the first time since the 2010-2011 season on Wednesday night. Wagner is 16-35 all-time against Saint Peter's, but has won two out of the last three meetings against the Peacocks.

Scouting The Peacocks

Saint Peter's comes into Wednesday's matchup with an 0-2 overall mark after falling to Wagner's Northeast Conference (NEC) foe Bryant 69-44  in their season-opener before dropping a 68-47 decision to Providence on Saturday. Last season, the Peacocks finished with a 10-22 overall record.

Next Up For Wagner

Following Wednesday's contest, the Seahawks will welcome Stony Brook on Saturday, with tip-off at the Spiro Sports Center set for 3 PM on NECFrontRow.
