Staten Island, NY –
Led by sophomore Heather McLean's (81-84-165) seventh place finish the Wagner College women's golf team finished in third place following day two at the 36-hole Vanessa Picciotto Perrine Memorial Intercollegiate, contested at the 5,832-yard, par 72 Richmond County Country Club on Tuesday.

Hosted by Wagner College, this event was formerly known as the Seahawk Spring Invitational, the event before being renamed in honor of the 2003 Wagner College graduate, and top golfer, who died tragically in 2012.

Monmouth claimed the team title with a score 658, followed by Bucknell (662) and Wagner (679), while Fairfield (695), Long Island (709) and Niagara (716) rounded out the field in fourth, fifth and sixth-place respectively.

Sarah Godfrey of Niagara was the medalist (81-80-161) as she defeated her teammate Susan Leone (78-83-161) and Paige Diecidue (79-82-161) of Monmouth in a one-hole playoff after each tied with a score of 161.  The trio played hole 18 as Godfrey parred while the other two competitors bogeyed.

Freshman Brianna Fitzpatrick (87-82-169) and junior Elise Keane (89-82-171) each notched top 15 finishes as they spotted 11th and 14th respectively. Sophomore Kyree Conaway (88-86-174) placed in a tie for seventeenth while Georgia Naples (91-86-177) rounded out the Seahawk lineup with a 22nd place result.

About the Vanessa Picciotto Perrine Memorial Intercollegiate
Born in Staten Island and raised in Holmdel, NJ, Vanessa Picciotto Perrine competed on the Seahawk women's golf team during all four of her years on Grymes Hill (1999-2003) and received a B.S. degree in Arts Administration in 2003. In October, 2012, Vannesa passed away tragically late during pregnancy from what was later determined to be preclampsia, a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system, most often the liver and kidneys. Through the support of the Picciotto family, and other friends and family of Vanessa, Wagner College has raised to date more than $100,000 that will be held in an endowed fund with the annual proceeds going to fund the expense of hosting this event, while at the same time, spreading the word to other young women about preclampsia. For information on how to support the annual Vanessa Picciotto Perrine Memorial Intercollegiate and help raise awareness of preclampsia, please contact Chris Fourman at 718-420-4516, or via email at Christopher.fourman@wagner.edu.
