WOODSTOWN, N.J. – The Wagner women's golf team earned top honors on Saturday at Town & Country Golf Links, winning a tri-match against La Salle and Saint Joseph's. The Seahawks placed first overall by posting the lowest combined team score, with their top four golfers leading the way.
Wagner was paced by sophomore
Maria Calleja, who shot a 72 (+1) continuing her strong start to the season with one of the best individual scores of the day. Freshman
Palwasha Ali followed closely behind with 77 (+6), recording a steady round that placed her inside the top five individually. Freshman
Lani Park and senior
Rileigh Leighton also factored into Wagner's scoring, each delivering key rounds to secure the team's first-place finish.
The Seahawks outpaced La Salle, who finished second, and Saint Joseph's, who placed third. Wagner's depth across the lineup proved decisive in the team's first head-to-head victory of the fall.
The Green & White will see both La Salle and Saint Joseph's again when they return to competition at the Autumn Harvest Tournament, hosted by Lehigh at Architects Golf Club in Lopatcong, NJ, September 28–30.
