Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's swimming and diving team will celebrate its six seniors prior to Saturday's 1:00 p.m. meet vs. LIU Brooklyn at the Spiro Sports Center in the Seahawks' final tune-up before the 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) championships, which will take place February 21-24.
The Green and White will look to complete its undefeated season at home, having previously beaten Central Connecticut, Bryant, and Rhode Island at home, along with having nine straight victories in dual meets dating back to October's season opener at Northeastern. With less than a month to go until this year's conference meet, the Seahawks are also undefeated against NEC competition on the year.
The six Seahawk seniors who will be honored in Saturday's pregame ceremony include
Leahi Camacho,
Erin Finn,
Kirsty Hessing,
Sam Lavrich,
Maddie McNichol, and
Grace Solipaca.
In their most recent meet, the
Seahawks earned a 160.00-99.00 win over Atlantic 10 member Rhode Island on January 13 behind three wins by sophomore
Makenna Depuydt, who took first place in the 1000 Free (10:43.10), 100 Free (54.94), and 500 Free (5:16.70), and has now won four events in her last two competitions.
On the diving board,
Sam Lavrich won her second NEC Diver of the Week award for her performance at the Fairfield Tri-Meet after winning the 3-meter competition with 238.35 points and finishing second on the 1-meter board with 223.57 points.
LIU Brooklyn comes into the weekend with a 5-2 dual meet record, with both losses coming against NEC competition in Sacred Heart and Saint Francis U.
After this weekend, Wagner will prepare for next month's NEC Championships which will be held the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY.
