NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Swimming & Diving teams set new meet records at the Hynes Center Pool over the weekend against Iona and Sacred Heart.
Seniors
Sophia Varon-Fowler and
Lia Vendel, along with sophomores
Lovisa Ramsten and
Gaya Savran swam a 3:57.56 in the women's 400-yard medley relay, which beat the previous meet record by less than half a second (3:57.78 in 2022). Savran also set a new meet record in the women's 200-yard butterfly, beating her own 2:07.47 time from last year with a 2:07.09 time this year.
Sophomore
Mia Goodale set a few records of her own, starting with the 200-yard freestyle event. Her time of 1:53.63 not only beat the previous meet record of 1:54.87, but it also beat her own winning time from last season's meet (1:55.69). Later on, she set the 500-yard freestyle record at the meet with a 5:05.46 time, keeping all of her laps under 31.5 seconds each.
On the men's side, juniors
Senan Noonan,
Manuel Chavez Villalpando, and sophomores
Max Wameling and
Florian Schumich smashed the previous 400-yard medley relay record by almost five seconds, finishing with a 3:23.69 time. Wagner had held the previous record with a 3:28.61 time set in 2023.
Schumich went on to set the individual medley record with a time of 1:54.90, beating the previous record by over half a second. Junior
Nikko Carrillo, who set the old record in 2023, finished second in this year's race.
The Seahawks will continue their season with a trip to New Haven, and a meet against Southern Connecticut State on Halloween night. The women's team will additionally compete against CCSU in the same meet.
