Stony Brook, NY – The Wagner women's basketball team takes to the road to play its second straight America East opponent on Sunday when the Seahawks meet undefeated Stony Brook in a 2:00 p.m. tip-off on ESPN 3.

  • Today's matchup between the Seahawks and the Seawolves will be meeting for the 11th time with Stony Brook holding a 7-3 edge in the series.

  • Sunday's tilt between the two New York-based schools will be the 11th all-time matchup as Stony Brook holds 7-3 edge in head-to-head matchup. 
  • Wagner vs. the America East
  • In Stony Brook, Wagner will be facing its third opponent from the America East, having squared off against New Hampshire on November 18. 
  • Last time out, Wagner dropped an 89-44 decision at UAlbany. 
  • This afternoon's contest will be Wagner's 44th all-time meeting with current America East members. The only school in the nine-team conference that the Seahawks have never faced is UMass-Lowell.
  • The school from the current configuration of the America East that Wagner has faced the most times is UMBC, a former member of the Northeast Conference (NEC). The Seahawks and the Retrievers have met a total of 11 times on the hardwood, followed by Stony Brook, who they have faced on 10 occasions.

  • Redshirt senior small forward Jessica Fequiere scored 16 points to lead three players in double figures as the UAlbany Great Danes defeated Wagner 89-44 on Wednesday evening at SEFCU Arena.
  • With the loss, the Seahawks, who were coming off of last Monday night's 63-58 win at the College of Staten Island, fall to 1-5 while UAlbany improves to 3-1.
  • Redshirt freshman guard Morgan Lenahan led the Seahawks with a career-high 16 points, 12 coming on a career-high four 3-pointers. Another Seahawk seeing her first collegiate action this season, freshman guard Alayshia Dailey, added nine points, as did fifth-year senior forward Sierra Clark.
  • Senior forward Samantha Sullivan logged a team-high 37 minutes and finished with a career-high and team-leading four assists. The 6-1 Jersey Shore native also collected a team-high five rebounds.
  • Albany, which was picked to finish second in the 2017-18 America East Preseason Poll, ran out to a 49-19 lead at the break. In support of Fequiere's 16-point effort, the Great Danes also received 11 points from junior forward Heather Forster while sophomore center Alexi Schecter added 10.

  • Heather Jacobs, who has built a pair of championship programs during her nine-year coaching career, was introduced as the ninth head coach in Wagner College Women's Basketball history on April 20, 2016.
  • Widely regarded as a rising star in the coaching profession, the second-year Seahawk head coach enters her second season on Grymes Hill after serving six seasons as head coach at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY, where she led the Panthers to unprecedented success during her tenure.
  • The high water mark for Jacobs at Adelphi came in 2014-15 when she led her team to a 28-4 record and an 18-2 mark in the NE-10 Conference, claiming the program's first-ever league championship and hosting the NCAA Division II East Regional. Adelphi was ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and tied a program record for most wins in a season, and Jacobs earned ECAC Division II and All-Met Coach of the Year honors by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA).
  • Jacobs came to Adelphi, where she also served as assistant athletic director, following a three-year stint as the head coach/senior women's administrator at Daniel Webster College, a Division III institution in Nashua, NH. In 2009-10, she was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coach of the Year following a school-record best finish of 20-6 and a regular season conference title.
  • During her six years at Adelphi, Jacobs guided the Panthers to four consecutive winning seasons, including a pair of 20-plus win campaigns, while amassing an overall record of 101-72 (.584), including a 65-61 (.516) mark in the NE-10.

  • Wagner will play its seventh road game of the season on Thursday, November 30 when the Seahawks travel 172 miles south to meet the Towson University Tigers, of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA,) in a 7:00 p.m. start.
  • Following the matchup at Towson, the Green & White return home for just their second contest at the Spiro Sports Center when they host the Longwood University Lancers in a 1:00 p.m. start.
  • The Wagner-Longwood tilt will be the opening game of a doubleheader with the Wagner men to host Division II Mercy College at 4:00 p.m.
