Box Score 2 Deland, FL – The Wagner softball team (5-4) split a pair of games on Saturday at the Hatter Classic, picking up an 8-7 win over Bethune-Cookman before falling 12-5 to Stetson to close out the day.
Game 1: Wagner 8 Bethune-Cookman 7 Junior centerfielder
Brianna Tredway (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West) led the Seahawks going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Her four hits contributed to the Seahawks 12 hits during the contest, which matched their season-high when they posted 12 against Rider University back on February 26.
Wagner got on the board first in the first inning, taking advantage of a Tredway double to lead off the inning. The next batter, freshman second baseman
Karen Prihoda (Hamilton, NJ/The Lawrenceville School) executed a perfect SAC bunt to move Tredway to third base. Junior leftfielder
Hana Gilbert (Valley Center, CA/Valley Center) had the RBI when she grounded out to Wildcat shortstop Brianna Sanders to score Tredway.
The score remained 1-0 until the Seahawks rallied in the fourth inning, posting five of their eight runs. Wagner loaded the bases with one out when Tredway singled to centerfield to score sophomore first baseman
Maddie Marable (Reno, NV/Earl Wooster), who had led off the inning with a single. A fielding error by Bethune-Cookman's Sanders and two singles from Gilbert and freshman catcher
Jessica Carlucci (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) rounded off the four other runs to make it 6-0 Wagner.
Tredway scored in the sixth inning and then had a RBI single to score Marable in the seventh inning.
Bethune-Cookman responded with two runs in the sixth and then another five runs in the bottom of the seventh with the tying run on second base. Sophomore
Morgan Brown (Buckeye, AZ/Verrado) came in for relief and struck out the Wildcat's Wanda Darby looking to secure the 8-7 victory.
Junior
McKaleigh Goodale (Bradenton, FL/Lakewood Ranch) threw the first five innings, allowing no runs, no hits and two strikeouts to pick up her third win of the season.
Carlucci finished 2-for-4 with two RBI while Marable was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
The Seahawks also had hits from Prihoda, junior third baseman
Aerika High (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) and freshman right fielder
Lauren Serrato (Litchfield Park, AZ/Verrado).
Game 2: Stetson 13 Wagner 5 Stetson cracked the scoreboard first, taking an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Wagner responded right back, tallying two runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the second inning, the Hatters rallied in nine runs to retake a 10-2 lead.
Wagner mounted a comeback, loading the bases and scoring three runs. Prihoda singled to lead off the inning and scored off of a RBI single down the right field line from Carlucci. The next batter, High, doubled to right center to score Gilbert, who had doubled to right center field after Prihoda led off the inning. With bases loaded, freshman shortstop

Maite Reece (Covina, CA/Gabrielino), who pinch ran for Carlucci.
The Hatters registered a late run to make it 13-5 in the top of the fifth inning but the Seahawks were unable to respond leaving a total of three batters left on base in the fifth and sixth innings.
Wagner tallied 11 hits from seven players. Carlucci was 2-for-2 with three RBIs while Prihoda was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
High recorded two hits with one RBI. Tredway, Gilbert and senior catcher
Megan Moore had one hit each to round out the hits for the Seahawks.
