Staten Island, NY – The Wagner men's lacrosse team, which has been hit with a series of injuries to several front line players and coming off a tough 10-9 triple-overtime loss to Hobart, looks to return to the .500 mark on the season when the 4-5 Seahawks host 1-9 NJIT at Hameline Field on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. start.
NJIT, which competes as an independent in men's lacrosse, are in its season as a Division I program and is coming off of their first-ever win, a 10-7 victory at Dartmouth, one of the three teams that Wagner and NJIT have faced this season. Dartmouth is one of three opponents that the Seahawks and Highlanders have faced and each team is 1-2 in these common foe matchups.

Last Time Out
Wagner battled back from a late third-quarter 8-5 deficit to forge a 9-9 tie before falling to Hobart 10-9 in the first three-overtime game ever for both teams last Saturday in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener. William McMenamin (Longport, NJ/St. Augustine Prep), coming off a career-high six goals vs. UMass Lowell on Wednesday, had two goals, include the game-tying score with 1:42 left in regulation that tied it at 9-9, while adding an assist. Park's first career goal was a memorable one as it came from 48 yards out on a high, lofted shot which found the net with 1:12 left in the third quarter and drew Wagner to within 7-5. After not recording a single save in an opening half that saw Hobart jump out to a 6-4 lead, freshman goalie
Matt Sefcik (Towaco, NJ/Morristown Beard School) came up big in the second half, coming up with 10 saves after intermission, several of the point-blank variety. Hobart outshot Wagner 42-33 while ground balls were dead even at 33-33. The Statesmen forced Wagner into going just 11-of-20 on clearing attempts while going 17-of-21 themselves on clears.
