Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's basketball team will plays its first of three contests vs. Ivy League opponents when the Seahawks host the Yale Bulldogs on Wednesday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. The Green & white enter the contest with a 1-4 record and are coming off 73-40 loss at New Hampshire on November 26. The Bulldogs are 2-2 on the season following a 71-70 overtime win at Holy Cross on November 27. Following the Wagner contest, the Bulldogs, who have won three straight, will meet their second straight Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent when they travel to LIU Brooklyn on December 1.

Wagner is under the direction of first-year head coach
Heather Jacobs, who arrived on Grymes Hill in April after building championship programs at Division III Franklin Pierce College, and most recently, Division II Adelphi College. The Seahawks are led in scoring by junior guard
Tanasia Russell (Vineland, NJ / Vineland) who averages 14.5 points per game in rebounding by a pair of guards in sophomore
Julia McClure (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) and
Corinn Baggs (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy), who average 7.0 and 6.4 caroms per game, respectively.
About Yale
Jen Berkowitz, who played a big role in each of Yale's three straight wins, was named Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday for the first time in her career. The junior forward finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in Tuesday's win at Illinois State. Berkowitz shot 7-for-12 from the field in the game, including 2-for-2 from 3-point range, and she also made both of her free-throw attempts. On Sunday, Berkowitz was even more efficient on Sunday, finishing with 16 points and 7 rebounds on 6-for-7 shooting (2-for-3 from 3-point range and 2-for-2 from the line) in 23 minutes of play. After her exceptional recent run, Berkowitz now leads the team with 12.7 points per game. She ranks second with 7.5 rebounds per game, behind freshman Megan Gorman's 8.2. Gorman was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll this week after averaging 5.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game in Yale's two wins. She blocked 3 shots against Illinois State and registered 3 steals against Holy Cross. Senior Meghan McIntyre was also named to the Honor Roll this week. She scored a career-high 22 points and added 4 assists in Yale's overtime win against Holy Cross on Sunday. She made a career-high six 3-pointers against Holy Cross after hitting three shots from long distance against Illinois State.
Fifth All-Time Meeting with Yale
Tonight's game marks the fifth all-time meeting between Wagner and Yale and the Bulldogs have won each of the three prior games, including last season's matchup, when Yale earned a 78-60 win over the Seahawks in New Haven, CT on Dec. 6, 2015.
Wagner vs. the Ivy League
The Seahawks have played seven of the eight institutions that comprise the Ivy League, with the lone exception being Dartmouth. Wagner, which has upcoming games vs. Penn (12/3) and at Princeton (12/21), are 23-25 all-time vs. the Ivies.
