Live Webstream (Premium) I Live Stats

Philadelphia, PA – The Wagner women's lacrosse team (2-2) guns for its third consecutive win when the Seahawks meet the Saint Joseph's University Hawks (1-1) in a 7:00 p.m. matchup tonight.

The Seahawks will be looking to make history vs. their Atlantic 10 counterparts as the Hawks own an 11-0 all-time advantage over Wagner with the most recent meeting a 10-5 SJU win on Grymes Hill on February 24, 2013.

After dropping their first two games of the season, at Bucknell (9-7) and vs. American (16-12), the Seahawks have gone on to post road wins over Manhattan (16-10) and Lafayette (14-9).

Wagner has received contributions from a host of individuals, perhaps most notably, junior midfielder Shea Gegan (Belmar, NJ/Manasquan). Last time out, during the Green & White's 14-9 victory at Lafayette on Wednesday, the athletic 5-10 Shea was at her versatile best. The 2014 NEC Defensive Player of the Year, who led the nation in caused turnovers per game last season, finished with three goals, and two assists vs. the Leopards, giving her a team-high five points. She also collected seven ground balls, was credited with six caused turnovers, had one draw control and was successful on her only free-position shot on the afternoon. For the season, Gegan leads the Seahawks in goals (8), assists (6), points (14), ground balls (15) and caused turnovers (12).

Junior midfielder Gretchen Fay (7G, 0A) (Spring Lake Heights, NJ/Manasquan) and junior attacker Stephanie Peterson (Vernon, N/Vernon Township) have notched seven points (6G, 1A) on the season while sophomore attacker Olivia Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) checks in with six points (5G, 1A). Sophomore defender Amanda Rey (Turnersville, NJ / Washington Township) has been a sparkplug as well, leading the team with 11 draw controls. In goal, junior Katie Ferraro (Owings Mill, MD/McDonogh) has a 10.00 goals against average and is coming off a season-high 16-save performance at Lafayette.

Saint Joseph's, which is coming off of a 12-day layoff, has split its two games thus far, both one-goal affairs, as the Hawks followed a 12-11 season-opening home loss to Temple (2/14) with a 13-12 home victory (2/18) over the same American Eagles' squad that had knocked off Wagner four days earlier. Junior midfielder Kelly Phelan leads the squad in scoring with seven points on a team-best six goals and one assist and has added a team-best 10 draw controls, while sophomore midfielder Sarah Smith (5G, 1A) and sophomore defender Maggie Egan (3G, team-best 3A) have added six points apiece. Junior defender Mallory Grey (5GB, 6CT) and freshman defender Kate Payne (6GB, 4CT) have combined for 11 of SJU's 39 ground balls and 10 of SJU's 25 caused turnovers while senior goalkeeper and Atlantic 10 Co-Defender of the Week Nora McGeever (1-1) sports a 10.23 goals against average and .a 586 save percentage.
