Andrew Streilein (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) registered a hat trick to lead a balanced offensive effort that featured goals from seven different players, while and junior goalie 
Anthony Peruso (Warwick, NY/John S. Burke Catholic) made nine saves, as the Wagner men's lacrosse team recorded a solid 12-4 victory over VMI at wind-swept Hameline Field this afternoon. 
In snapping a two-game losing streak, the Seahawks improve to 2-4 on the season and build momentum heading into this Saturday's 1:00 p.m. Northeast Conference (NEC) opener vs. Mount St. Mary's. 
Wagner was in control throughout vs. the Keydets, jumping out to a 5-1 lead after one quarter before increasing its advantage to 8-2 at halftime. 
After Mike DeBlasio gave VMI a short-lived 1-0 lead with an unassisted tally 3:04 into the game, the Seahawks reeled off eight consecutive goals before the Keydets scored a late first-half tally to make it an 8-2 game at intermission. 
Redshirt-sophomore attackman 
Patrick McMenamin (Longport, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) knocked in both of his goals during Wagner's eight-goal, first-half barrage. McMenamin, who celebrates a birthday each St. Patrick's Day, along with twin brother and fellow redshirt-sophomore midfielder 
William McMenamin, wound up with three points on two goals and one assist to match the stat line of junior attackman 
Billy Battaglia (Madison, NJ/Madison). Also chipping in with two goals for the Seahawks was junior midfielder 
Paul DeVita (Westfield, NJ/Westfield). 
Contributing one goal and one assist apiece to the Seahawk cause were senior midfielder 
Cory Santor (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury), as well as freshmen midfielders 
JP Pawela (Montgomery Village, MD/St. John's College) and 
Billy Orme (Great Falls, VA/Langley). 
Junior defenseman 
Daniel Valencia (Gaithersburg, MD/Gaithersburg) also got into the offensive act when he connected with Battaglia on a long outlet pass, triggering a fast-break goal by the fleet-footed junior, that gave Wagner the lead for good at 2-1 with 9:32 left in the first quarter. 
Ton Nofi led the Keydets with two goals on the day while DeBlasio and Ty Trobridge added one score apiece as VMI, which competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference, fell to 0-8 on the season. 
Statistically, Wagner outshot VMI 29-24 and led in ground balls by a 19-17 count while the Keysets won 12-of-21 faceoffs. The Seahawks were 2-of-3 on extra-man opportunities while not committing a single penalty themselves. 
Sophomore goalie 
David Hwang (Happauge,, NY/Happauge), a transfer from LIU Post, came on in relief of Peruso in goal for the final 3:10 of the game and came up with one save.
