Kingston, RI – The Wagner swimming & diving team returns to competition when the Seahawks travel to the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, January 17 at 1:00 p.m.
Having just returned from a week-long training trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, taking on the highest intensity training thus far this season, head coach
Colin Shannahan is confident the girls are focused and ready to tackle the second half of the season, starting with this tough contest against the Rams.
Heading into last season, Rhode Island had a history of pulling out close meets late but this all changed last year when the Seahawk's defeated Rhode Island for the first time in the program's history,
with a final score of 167-133. The squad looks to repeat that same result this year but on the road.
The Seahawks recorded an impressive 8-1 record in the first half of the season, led by sophomore
Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI/Hawaii Preparatory Academy), sophomore
Grace Baird (Lexington, NC/West Davidson High School) and junior
Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA/Easthampton). These three standouts also competed in the
2014 AT&T Winter National Championships in December.
