Hackensack, NJ –
Fresh off of a landmark victory over first-place Robert Morris on Monday, the Wagner women's basketball team looks for its second straight Northeast Conference (NEC) win when the Seahawks travel to Fairleigh Dickinson to meet the Knights in a 2:00 pm tilt.

The signature win over Robert Morris snapped a decade-long, 17-game losing streak vs. the Colonials. The brave souls who navigated through streets covered with more than six inches of snow en route to the Spiro Sports Center on Monday were treated to an epic performance by the Seahawks. Center Ugo Nwaigwe (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) highlighted the win, grabbing 24 rebounds while the backcourt tandem of Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum) and Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) scored 22 and 21 points, respectively, in leading Wagner to victory.

In defeating Robert Morris for the first time since a 56-51 road win on February 7, 2004, the Seahawks improved to 4-6 on the season and moved into seventh place in the 10-team conference. The top eight teams will secure a berth in next month's NEC Tournament.

The 2013-2014 Seahawks are 5-16 overall and one of the nation's youngest teams with nine of the 11 players being in either their first or second seasons of eligibility. The Wagner roster is comprised of five true freshmen, one redshirt freshman, two true sophomores, one redshirt sophomore, zero juniors, and two seniors. In Fairleigh Dickinson, the Seahawks will be facing a team that enters play with a 1-20 overall record and a 1-10 mark in NEC play.

Peck and Nwajei  head into Saturday's game ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the NEC in scoring with Peck at 22.1 points per game and Nwajei right behind her in third at 21.6.

On Wednesday, Nwajei earned her fourth NEC Rookie of the Week honor after averaging 21. 5 points in Wagner's two games, including a game-high 22-point outing in the win over RMU. Against the Colonials, the dynamic 5-8 New York City guard pulled down eight rebounds, dished out four assists and came up with three steals, helping to spark a defensive effort that marked the least points allowed by Wagner this season, a 51-point output that also equaled RMU's lowest scoring game of the season (51-39 win over UMBC – 11/23/13). Nwajei was 8-20 from the field, including 2-5 marksmanship from beyond the arc. Two days earlier, Nwajei totaled 21 points, to go with six assists, two rebounds and two steals in the Seahawks 92-78 loss to Saint Francis U.

Peck has been sensational all season as well. In addition to ranking No. 2 in the NEC in scoring, the 5-6, deep-shooting lefty is ranked No. 2 three-point field goals made (2.57), No. 5 in free throw percentage (.832), and No. 6 in three-point field goal percentage (.380).

Nwaigwe enters the FDU game tied for No. 7 nationally and tops in the NEC with 3.11 blocked shots per game. Against RMU, she had seven blocks en route to becoming Wagner's all-time single-season blocks leader with 71. Wagner's defensive effort limited RMU to its lowest output of the season in NEC play and equaled the season low that the Colonials scored on November 23, 2013 in a 51-39 win over UMBC. The 51 points were also the fewest allowed by the Seahawks this season. Wagner came up with 10 steals tonight, the most recorded by the Seahawks in an NEC game this season and the second-highest (11 at Iona, 11/20/13) tamount of thefts collected all season.

Wagner did a particularly effective and noteworthy defensive job on RMU's 6-0 senior forward Artemis Spanou, limiting the reigning NEC Player of the Year to a season-low five points, more than 16 below the 21.1-point NEC average that she brought into the game (a figure that ranked No. 4 in the NEC). Spanou was held to 1-of-6 shooting on the night and, in the second half, she missed the only field goal attempt that she took.
