Staten Island, NY – When the Wagner women's basketball team  hosts Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday, February 17 at 7:00 pm in a contest that will be steamed live on ESPN 3, the Seahawks will be seeking to win their third consecutive game, raise their Northeast Conference (NEC) record to the .500 level, and  avenge a 12-point loss suffered against these same Knights nine days ago.

Describing the action for the audience logged in on ESPN3 will be veteran New York City Metropolitan area play-by-play man Paul Dottino with Brenda Milano, former Seahawk star (1991-1995) and 2010 Wagner College Hall of Fame member, providing color analysis.

On Sunday, Wagner completed a season sweep of the St. Francis Brooklyn, the program that Milano coached from 2003-2012, defeating the Terriers 62-53 on Play 4Kay Day on Grymes Hill, behind another stellar outing from reigning and five-time NEC Rookie of the Week Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum).

In earning its first consecutive NEC wins since the 2010-2011 season, the Seahawks improved to 6-7 in league play and are in seventh-place in the conference standings. The six wins are the most by the Green & White since 2009-2010, when Wagner went 6-12 en route it its most recent NEC Tournament appearance.

In Saturday's win over St. Francis Brooklyn, Nwajei poured in 25 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished out six assists and came up with four steals, in leading Wagner to a wire-to-wire 62-53 Northeast Conference (NEC) win over St. Francis Brooklyn.  Redshirt junior center Ugo Nwaigwe (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) also recorded a double-double, tallying a career-high 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, while adding seven blocked shots. The school record-holder in single-season blocks, the 6-3 Nwaigwe is now up to 88 on the season.

Sharp-shooting sophomore guard Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) was the third Seahawk in double figures, finishing with 10 points despite struggling from the perimeter. While Peck's string of 20-point-plus scoring games came to an end at four, the 5-6 lefty was able to hit for double digits for the 19th time on the season.

Nwaigwe's seven blocks Nwajei's four steals helped lead a Seahawk defensive effort that limited St. Francis Brooklyn to 29.7% shooting (19-of-64). And for the first time this season, the Terriers were held without a scorer hitting double-figures as they were led by Jasmin Robinson and junior forward Sarah Benedetti, who finished with nine points apiece.

Having scored 20 or more points in six straight games and 10 of the 12 league games that she has played, Nwajei is averaging 22.5 points per game in NEC play and 17.3 overall. Peck, meanwhile, is averaging 19.0 points overall and 21.2 in league game.

Monday night's game will mark the 68th meeting between the schools. Following FDU's 82-70 win over the Seahawk son February 8, Wagner now trails 35-32 in the all-time series.

One week after knocking off Robert Morris on February 3, the Northeast Conference's (NEC) first-place team by a 67-51 count, Wagner earned another signature win on February 10, dispatching a veteran, experience-laden Bulldog squad by a 78-64 count.

Wagner played the 15th-toughest schedule in the nation according to rpiratrings.com, a non-conference slate that included five "power conference" schools, including No. 7 Kentucky of the SEC, Seton Hall from the Big East, the Atlantic 10's VCU Rams, ACC member Pittsburgh, as well as Rutgers of the American Athletic Conference.

"I designed our non-conference schedule with the sole purpose of preparing us for NEC play," said second-year head coach Lisa Cermignano, a former top assistant at Illinois, Vanderbilt and George Washington. "Once conference play hit, we had experienced everything a team could experience, we were ready for anything, and I really think our tough out of conference schedule is paying dividends."
