Getting To Know Your Seahawk Newcomers: Lyndsay Rowe

Getting To Know Your Seahawk Newcomers Part 1 (8/7/13): Taylor Butigian

Lyndsay Rowe Biography

Staten Island, NY –
In the weeks leading up to the fall semester, wagnerathletics.com is taking a quick glance at each of Wagner's incoming women's basketball recruits.

The first full recruiting class attracted by second-year head coach Lisa Cermignano, that will enter Wagner as freshmen next month, has been hailed as one of the best to arrive on Grymes Hill in recent memory.

"This is a change-the-program  type of class in terms of attitude and direction," said Mike Flynn, Director of Blue Star Media. "This class is a great start to the Lisa Cermignano Era."

Here is a close look at 5-8 freshman guard Lyndsay Rowe (South River, NJ/ St. John Vianney).

Parents: Chris and Tammy Rowe

Siblings: Christopher Rowe

Shoe Size: 8.5

I am as good as anyone at: Talking and being outgoing!

Age I first picked up a basketball: Eight years old

Favorite food: Italian food, steak, and sushi

Team I'd like to add to the schedule: UConn or Notre Dame!

Why I chose Wagner: I chose Wagner because it was close to home, the coaching staff was unbelievable, the team was instantly like family, and the academics are great in my future major

What I like best about Wagner so far: The closeness to home, the small, homey feeling, my teammates, and the coaches who have tried to make my transition as comfortable as possible

Superstitions: Hair the same way before games, eating the same meal, using the same hair tie

My advice to kids: Don't give up on your dreams or something people say you can't do. Use it to drive you and prove everybody wrong. Also, don't give up when the going gets tough…keep pushing through because you can do anything and your family will always be by your side

If I won the lottery I would: Pay off my parents' house, any bills, buy a beach house in Myrtle Beach, donate some money to charity, and use the rest responsibly over the years

Something people probably don't know about me: I'm the most competitive person ever. I HATE losing

Nicknames: Lynds, Lyn

Hobbies: Basketball, going to the beach, shopping, spending time with my family, playing with my puppy, and watching TV

Favorite Movie: Friends with Benefits and Pitch Perfect

Favorite Current and former WNBA player(s): Candace Parker & Epiphanny Prince

The thing I admire most about Coach Cermignano: Her open door policy. She isn't only a coach but like a second mom, especially during the tough times. She always knows what to say and how to make a situation better. She has a huge heart and is truly one of the kindest, most giving people I have ever met.

Pre-game ritual: Say a prayer to my grandparents to help and watch over me, focus on doing my best, listening to my iPod

Best thing(s) about me as a person: I don't let the little things bring me down, you can tell me anything and your secret is always safe with me, and I 'm really low key with a good personality. I never give up, and I will always give you more than my best regardless of what we're doing. I don't always need to be doing something. I'm also really friendly and optimistic. I like to make other people happy!

My start in real organized basketball: Third grade.

If I could change one rule in the game of basketball: It would probably be finding a way to reduce fouling or something else with officiating, maybe something with hand-checking or three seconds violations.

When I was a kid, I tried to be like: My grandma and my mom. They're just those type of people that you can only hope to be exactly like when you're older

The best things about me as a player: I will never give up and always keep a positive attitude. I'm open to everything and anything if it can make me better and make the team better. I also give my all every time I step on the court. I will play my hardest for you and respect you every single day, regardless of what else is going on.

Things I need to work on: My handle, developing a quicker shot and stepping into it rather than two-foot jump stopping…continue doing the little things in order to get to the big things.
