The Seawolves Holiday Classic Presented by Hilton Garden Inn SB


Stony Brook, NY - After dropping a 69-56 decisoon to Eastern Michigan yesterday, the Wagner women's basketball team will face Stony Brook itoday at 2:00 pm in the second day of the  Seawolves Holiday Classic Presented by Hiilton Garden Inn SB in a game that will now tip of at 2:30 pm due to the length of today's Noon game, which saw Eastern Michigan defeat Monmouth 64-53.

In addition to Wagner's loss to Eastern Michigan, yesterday's action included a nightcap that featured host Stony Brook recording a 69-52 victory over Monmouth.

About the Seahawks
• Wagner is of the nation's youngest teams with an 11-person roster conisting of one senior, one junior, two true sophomores, one redshirt-sophomore, one redshirt-freshman and five true freshmen.

• Wagner has played five "Power Conference" teams and has now played the 30th-ranked schedule in the nation according to rpi.com. Among the Seahawks' nine opponents that they've  met in the young season are No. 7 Kentucky of the SEC, Seton Hall from the Big East, the Atlantic 10's VCU Rams, as well as ACC member Pittsburgh. According to RPIratings.com, Wagner has played the 30th-toughest schedule in the nation. This high strength of schedule is a major reason why the Seahawks are ranked No. 219 out of 347 Division I teams, despite their 1-7 record to date.

• Against Eastern Michigan in round one, sophomore sensation Jordyn Peck (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) Sophomore tossed in 20 points and freshman guard Jasmine Nwajei (Rockaway Park, NY/Murry Bergtraum recorded her first double-double with 14 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. With the victory, the high-flying Eagles improved to 8-1 on the season while the Seahawks fell to 1-8 in spite of a gritty, determined effort.  Wagner did a tremendous job defensively on the afternoon as Eastern Michigan entered the game ranked No. 5 nationally in scoring at 90.5 points per game, fresh off a 104-96 win over Detroit Mercy, and had scored 75 or more points in a school-record eight straight games. Against the Seahawks, the Eagles were held to a season-low 69 points scored while shooting just 23-of-73 (32%) from the field, which was also a season low.

About the Stony Brook Seawolves
• Stony Brook is 7-3 and riding a two-game winning streak following yesterday's victory over Monmouth. 5-8 senior guard Chikilra Goodman averages 13.0 points and 6.7 rpg. Junior forward Sabre Proctor paces the Seawolves at 14.0 ppg. while junior guard Jessica Ogunnorin, a 6-1 native of Greece and a transfer from UC-Riverside, checks in at 10.9 ppg. and a team-high 6.9 rpg.  The Seawolves own wins over NJIT, Bradley, FDU, Morgan State , Saint Peter's, Lafayette and Monmouth.

Wagner All-Time Record vs. Stony Brook: 7-1
The Seahawks and Seawolves are meeting for the ninth time and Wagner holds an all-time lead of 7-1 in the series.
