Smithfield, RI - The Green & White placed seventh out of 12 teams at the 8K Nassaney Invitational on the campus of Bryant University. Boston won the team title with 53 points, followed by Northeastern (63 points), Monmouth (102 points), Quinnipiac (133 points), Sacred Heart (142 points), Mount St. Mary's (165 points), Wagner (177 points), Siena (197 points), St. Francis (NY) (229 points), Central Connecticut (229 points), the homestanding Bulldogs (260 points) and Fairleigh Dickinson (296 points).
Robert Allen of the Community College of Rhode Island won the individual title with a mark of 25:24.5.
Junior
Daniel Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) paced the Seahawks for the second-straight week, finishing 11th, including fifth among Northeast Conference (NEC) runners, with a mark of 26:04.7. Sophomore
James Naglieri (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) turned in another impressive performance, taking 16th in 26:29.4.
Placing third on the squad and 33rd overall was sophomore
Jacob Malakoff (Hobart, Tasmania / Friends / Hofstra) in 26:58.8. Classmate
Tim Mendez (West Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) was 65th in 28:01.7. Rounding out the scorers for Wagner was freshman
Darius Moulton (Tasmania, Australia / Friends / Hofstra), who finished 104th (29:45.2).
The Seahawks return to action on Saturday, September 22 at the Ted Owens Invitational in Stanley Quarter Park on the campus of Central Connecticut.
