Jillian Maloney (Mahopac, NY/ Mahopac) each scored hat tricks but the Seahawks wound up on the short end of a 13-12 decision in a wild game of runs that featured five lead changes and five ties.
The tough-luck Seahawks have now dropped four games by two goals or less on the season, having previously lost close, competitive contests vs. Sacred Heart (12-10 on 3/25), LIU Brooklyn (14-13, 2OT on 4/5), Mount St. Mary's (8-6 on 4/15), In dropping its fifth straight game, Wagner falls to 6-10 on the season, 1-7 in the Northeast Conference while the Colonials improve to 6-10 overall and 4-4 in league play.
Trailing 10-9 entering the fourth quarter, the Seahawks went on a 2-0 spurt in taking its final lead of the game at 11-10. With 13:05 left to play, Maloney sank the equalizing goal, an unassisted effort that made it 10-10. The game remained tied for the next 4:13 until Clark buried the go-ahead goal off an assist from senior midfielder
Lauren Petrik (Baldwinsville, NY/ C.W. Baker) at 8:52 to put Wagner on top 11-10.
Robert Morris responded with a three-goal splurge, an Erin Mossop goal sandwiched around a pair of tallies by Colleen O'Donnell, whose second goal of the run gave the Colonials a 13-11 lead with 1:17 left. Maloney then drilled home a free position shot on a man-up opportunity following a yellow card on Tara Southworth with 52 seconds left to cut the deficit to 13-12 but that proved to be the final score of the game as Robert Morris held on for the win.
It was all Colonials early in this one as Robert Morris ran out to a 5-0 lead in the game's first 10:13. An unassisted goal by Clark at 18:23 opened the floodgates for Wagner as the Seahawks followed with unanswered goals by Petrik, senior midfielder
Melanie Garces (San Diego, CA/ Westview), and sophomore attacker
Sam Morin (Rockville Centre, NY/ South Side), the latter which tied the game at 5-5 with four minutes left in the first half.
After Jessica Rutherford put the Colonials back on top 6-5 with 2:41 to go in the hale, Morin answered with an unassisted marker at 1:30 to forge a 6-6 tie at halftime.
The Seahawks continued their momentum with three goals during the first 8:50 of the second half in completing a 4-0 run that spanned both halves in a 9-6 lead. Maloney started the second-half surge of an assist from sophomore midfielder
Michela Galante (Maplewood, NJ/ Columbia) at 28:47 which was followed 27 seconds later by a goal on a free position shot by Petrik to put Wagner up 8-6.
That's the way the score remained for the next 7:10 until Talia Waskowicz scored her first of two consecutive goals that kick-started a Robert Morris 4-0 run that carried the Colonials to a 10-9 lead. Waskowicz's third goal of the spree at 15:13 put Robert Morris back into the lead at 10-9. Maloney then kicked off the 2-0 Wagner run that made it 11-10 and was followed by the Colonials' deciding 3-0 run.
For Maloney, the three goals were a career high. Petrik finished with two goals along with a game-high three assists. Morin had two goals on the afternoon while Garces and Galante chipped in with one goal apiece. In addition to Petrik's three assists, junior attacker
Erika Bulken (Baldwinsville, NY/ C.W. Baker) had two helpers while Galante had one.

Morgan Roach (Syracuse, NY/ Westhill) registered a career-high 18 saves in the face of 40 shots. Her previous career high was 17 which she registered in the first game of her collegiate career on February 26, 2011.
Clark paced Wagner in draw controls with four while Bulken and senior defender
Chanel Briggins (Freeport, NY/ Freeport) led the Seahawks with three caused turnovers apiece.
For Robert Morris, O'Donnell and Waskowicz tallied three goals each while Mossop and Courtney Sicinski added two apiece. Kaitlin Pentz came up with 10 saves in goal for the Colonials.
Robert Morris out-shot Wagner 40-26, held a 32-27 edge in ground balls and led in draw controls, 17-10. The Seahawks were successful on 3-of-6 free position shots while the Colonials were 1-of-7 in this category.
Wagner will conclude the 2012 season on Sunday, April 22 when the Seahawks meet Saint Francis (PA) in a 1:00 pm contest.
