Staten Island, NY - The Wagner-Monmouth women's basketball game on Sat., Feb. 18 at The Spiro Sports Center is the Seahawks' Play4Kay Game, an initiative aimed at raising funds and awareness about breast cancer.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has rebranded its WBCA Pink Zone initiative as “Play 4Kay” this season. From February 10-20, basketball teams from across the nation are wearing pink uniforms or as part of their uniforms while encouraging fans to wear pink as well. Women's basketball teams are staging Play 4Kay games Feb. 10-20.

The Play 4Kay effort maintains the same mission as its Pink Zone predecessor: to engage a nation of coaches to raise breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund remains the official charity of the initiative.

Pink Zone was created in 2007 after Yow's third recurrence of breast cancer was diagnosed in 2006. Before the legendary NC State coach died on Jan. 24, 2009, Yow − along with the WBCA and The V Foundation − united thousands in the fight against women's cancers. Since then, the movement continues to grow and change lives, especially during February.

Wagner enters the game 2-23 on the season, 1-13 in the Northeast Conference while Monmouth is 14-11, 9-5 in league play.
