West Point, NY – Junior attackman Garrett Thul scored four goals and added one assist while senior attackman Conor Hayesadded three goals and one assist to offset a three-goal outing by Wagner junior midfielder and tri-captain Colin O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/ St. John's Shrewsbury) as Army recorded a 24-7 victory at Michie Stadium.
Army (1-1) scored just seven seconds into the contest, led 15-2 at halftime in posting the victory. The game marked the head coaching debut for Wagner's
Matt Poskay, the former University of Virginia All-American and current Major Lacrosse League All-Star.

Brian Faughnan (New Canaan, CT/ New Canaan) scored the Seahawks' first goal of the season off a feed from senior attackman and tri-captain
Mike Hurley (Billerica, MA/ Billerica). After the Black Knights extended the lead to 6-1, junior midfielder
Nick DePhillips (Glen Ridge, NJ/ Glen Ridge), a transfer from Ohio State, hit the back of the cage on an unassisted bullet to make it 6-2. Army then ran off the next nine goals of the half in building its 15-2 halftime bulge.
The run was ended by O'Rourke's first tally of the game, an unassisted goal 36 seconds into the second half, that made it a 15-3 game. O'Rourke would go on to score two more goals, DePhillips added one more to finish with two on the afternoon while senior midfielder
William Hedges (Shoreham, NY/ Longwood) added another. Hurley and Faughnan paced Wagner in the assist department with two apiece.
An encouraging sign for the Seahawks was the competiveness they showed in the critical faceoff department. An area where Wagner struggled last season, the Seahawks won 17-of-34 faceoffs vs. Army with senior midfielder and tri-captain
John Rushton (West Islip, NY/ West Islip) winning 9-of-17 draws. Junior midfielder
Krey Keller (Colorado Springs, CO/ Cheyenne Mountain) was a credible 6-of-15 while senior midfielder
John Andrejack (Jamesport, NY/ Riverhead) was a perfect 2-of-2 in the faceoff circle.
Army out-shot Wagner 57-19 and led in ground balls 45-27. The Black Knights converted 4-of-6 extra-man opportunities while the Seahawks were 1-of-2 in EMOs.
The Seahawks play another elite team on Tuesday, February 21 when the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers invade Wagner College Stadium at 2:00 pm.
