Smithfield, RI - Junior
Dan Zaccariello (Staten Island, NY / St. Joseph By The Sea) placed sixth with a time of 25:21.72 at the 8K Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship en route to earning all-conference accolades at Bryant University's Campus Course. Led by Zaccariello's outstanding performance, the Seahawks placed seventh out of 11 teams with 165 points.
Central Connecticut's Colby Delbene won the individual title with a mark of 25:03.77 as the Blue Devils claimed the team title with 72 points. Monmouth took second with 78 points, followed by Quinnipiac (79 points), Sacred Heart (109 points), St. Francis (NY) (127 points), Mount St. Mary's (146 points), Wagner (165 points), Robert Morris (229 points), Saint Francis (PA) (229 points), the host Bulldogs (242 points) and Fairleigh Dickinson (264 points).
Sophomore
Jacob Malakoff (Tasmania, Australia / Friends / Hofstra) turned in an impressive performance in his first conference championship race, finishing 19th in 26:11.05. Classmate
James Naglieri (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) was the third member of the Green & White to cross the line, placing 25th with a mark of 26:22.56.
Sophomore
Tim Mendez (West Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) and freshman
Darius Moulton (Brisbane, Australia / Gregory Terrace) rounded out the scorers, taking 47th (27:12.72) and 83rd (29:25.88), respectively.
Zaccariello's sixth-place finish also marks the eighth-straight year that the Seahawks have been represented with an All-NEC accolade.
Wagner returns to action on Friday, November 9 with the 10K NCAA Regional Championship at
Hammonasset Park.
