Hackensack, NJ – The Wagner College women's basketball team looks to return to the win column when the Seahawks make the short trip to North Jersey to meet the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson in a 7:00 pm Northeast Conference (NEC) tussle tonight at Stratis Arena.
The Seahawks are led by senior center
Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ/ St. Rose) who leads Wagner in scoring (13.9 ppg. – 9th NEC), rebounding (7.9 rpg. – 8th NEC) field goal percentage (.481 – 7th NEC) and blocked shots (2.1 blocks per game – 2nd NEC). During halftime of the broadcast (Fox College Sports and ESPN3) of last Saturday's 65-42 loss at Monmouth, Clark was the subject of a three-minute feature entitled
Wagner's Kelly Clark's Journey to Staten Island. Clark, who sat down with the Pack Network's K.J. Cardinal last month, went on to pace Wagner with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds vs. the Hawks.
Wagner (2-12, 1-2) will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak when they meet an FDU team that comes in with a 6-9 overall mark and the same 1-2 conference mark as the Seahawks. The Knights, who are coming off of a 63-58 home overtime win over Mount St. Mary's, is led by dynamic 5-7 guard Mariyah Laury who leads the team in scoring (14. 9 ppg. – 9th NEC), assists (2.60 apg. – 14th NEC) and steals (2.13 spg).
This is the 63rd meeting between the long-time NEC rivals and the Knights lead the series 32-30. Tonight's meeting is the first of two between the schools this season as Wagner plays host to the Knights on Monday, Feb. 20 at 7:00 p.m. FDU won the lone meeting played between the schools last season by an 83-71 count Feb. 7, 2011 in Staten Island.
