Fairfield, CT - The Wagner College women's basketball team looks to return to the win column when the Seahawks travel to Sacred Heart University to meet the Pioneers.
Tonight's game is the only meeting of the season between the schools. The teams split their two meetings last season. On January 3, 2011, the Pioneers recorded a 70-52 home win over the Seahawks. Wagner turned the tables on the Pioneers in Staten Island, NY on January 22, 2011 when center
Kelly Clark drained her first career three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Seahawks to a dramatic 66-65 victory. Today's game marks the 26th meeting between the school and Sacred Heart holds a 17-8 edge in the all-time series.
Sacred Heart is 15-5l and in first place in the Northeast Conference with an 8-1 mark. The Seahawks, who have dropped 13 straight, are 2-18 overall, 1-8 in league play.
The Seahawks are paced by the 6-3 Clark who leads the team in scoring (14.1 points per game) and rebounding (8.0 rebounds per game). In Wagner's nine NEC games, Clark is averaging a robust 17.0 points per outing while shooting a sizzling 56.4 percent from the floor in conference play.
Last time out, at Quinnipiac on Saturday, Clark became the 22nd player in school history to reach the 1,000-point mark and enters the Sacred Heart game with 1,005 career points.
