Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team will play host to the Blackbirds of LIU Brooklyn at 7:00 pm tonight at the Spiro Sports Center in a game that will be webcast on
NortheastConference.TV free of charge.
A complement to the 23 men's and women's games that the Northeast Conference is airing on television this season, the webcast package, produced by the Pack Network, provides Northeast Conference (NEC) women's hoops fans additional opportunities to watch their favorite teams, free of charge, via a professionally-produced, high-quality cast that is available worldwide.
Tonight's Verrazano Bridge rivalry game vs. Long Island Brooklyn (14-5, 3-4 NEC) is the second meeting between the schools this season. On December, the Blackbirds posted a 72-41 win over Wagner (2-16, 1-6 NEC). Wagner will be looking to snap an 11-game losing streak tonight and the Seahawks are coming off a 48-34 loss at St. Francis (NY) on Saturday. The Blackbirds, meanwhile, broke a two-game losing streak with a 69-45 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday.
The Seahawks are paced by 6-3 senior center
Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ/ St. Rose) who leads the team in scoring (14.2 points per game) and rebounding (7.9 rebounds per game). In Wagner's seven NEC games, Clark is averaging a robust 18.0 points per outing while shooting a sizzling 61.3 percent from the floor in conference play. Clark tonight's game with 978 career points, leaving her 22 points shy of becoming the 22
nd player in Wagner women's basketball history to reach the 1,000-point mark.
Tonight's game marks the 71
st meeting between the school as LIU Brooklyn holds a 40-31 edge in the all-time series.
Following tonight's game, the NEC's broadband package picks back up on Monday, Feb. 6 when St. Francis (NY) welcomes Central Connecticut to Brooklyn Heights.
For the first time, ever NortheastConference.TV will air two matchups during NEC Rivalry Week. First, Central Connecticut hosts fellow Constitution State inhabitant Quinnipiac on Saturday, Feb. 11. Four days later, NortheastConference.TV travels south to the Jersey Shore for the Garden State Rivalry bout between Monmouth and Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
FDU will again play before the NortheastConference.TV cameras on Saturday, Feb. 18 when it visits the Knott Arena to take on Mount St. Mary's.
The conclusion of the webcast schedule coincides with the end of regular season play as Sacred Heart hosts Robert Morris in the finale on Monday, Feb. 27.
Matt Harmon will serve as play-by-play announcer, former Seton Hall head coach Phyllis Mangina enters her second season as the lead color analyst while Craig D'Amico will be the sideline reporter.
