Men’s Lacrosse Falls At Robert Morris 23-9

Sophomore midfielder Colin O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/ St. John's Shrewsbury) and sophomore attack Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, PA/ Episcopal Academy) tallied five points apiece but Wagner was unable to overcome an early deficit in dropping a 23-9 decision to Robert Morris in men's lacrosse action.

O'Rourke's five points came on a career-high four goals to go along with one assist while Isdaner deposited three goals and handed out two assists. For Isdaner, it marked the fourth time this season he has accumulated three or more points in a game. O'Rourke has now scored seven goals in his last two games as he notched three goals last time out vs. Bryant on April 9.

Isdaner is the team leader in goals (18), assists (9) and points (27) while O'Rourke is second on the team in both goals (12) and points (16) along with freshman attack Sam Morrissey (Long Valley, NJ/ West Morris Catholic).

Wagner fell behind 10-1 after one quarter and trailed 16-2 at halftime before opening the second half on a 5-2 run that cut the deficit to 18-7. Contained in the 5-2 Wagner run was a 4-0 Seahawk spree which featured two goals from Isdaner, one from O'Rourke and another from sophomore midfielder John Hojnoski (West Springfield, MA/ Cathedral).

Statistically, the game was much closer than the final score would indicate. For the first time this season, the Seahawks won the faceoff battle, winning 19-of-36 opportunities. Junior midfielder John Rushton (West Islip, NY/ West Islip) was 10-of-21 in the faceoff circle, junior midfielder John Andrejack (Jamesport, NY/ Riverhead) was 5-of-7, junior midfielder Krey Keller (Colorado Springs, CO/ Cheyenne Mountain) won 3-of-7 while freshman middie Matthew Shutte (Suffield, CT/ Suffield) was 1-of-1.

Robert Morris held a slim advantage in shots (46-40) and ground balls (40-35). The Colonials were 2-of-4 on extra-man opportunities while the Seahawks were 0-of-1.

Freshman Nicholas Gibaldi (Rocky Point, NY/ Rocky Point) and junior Peter Rubin (East Rockaway, NY/ East Rockaway) recorded seven and three saves, respectively with Gibaldi playing the entire first half with Rubin handling goalkeeping duties throughout the second half.

Trevor Moore and Jake Hayes paced the Colonials offensively by scoring five and four goals, respectively while Charles Ruppert and Brian Bohn combined for 12 saves in goal. 

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-10 on the season, 0-3 in the Northeast Conference while the Colonials improve to 7-5,

The Seahawks are next in action on Saturday, April 23 when they travel to Emmitsburg, MD to meet the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's.

NOTES – Wagner has scored nine goals in each of its last two games, having scored nine vs. Bryant last time out on April 9. The Seahawks' highest output of the season was 10 goals vs. Providence on Feb. 26.
