Martin Named Assistant Lacrosse Coach

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's lacrosse program has announced the hiring of Casey Martin as the newest member of the Seahawk coaching staff. Martin will work as an assistant to head coach Jason Rife, working primarily with the team's offense.

Martin, a 2008 graduate of Fairfield University, comes to Wagner after coaching in Manchester, England, where he worked as a local development officer, teaching young players the basics of the game. Martin also led a team of eight coaches that fostered the growth of the sport in the greater Manchester area.

Prior to his stint across the pond, Martin worked for Unparalleled Lacrosse out of Westport, Connecticut, as a head coach. There he was responsible for training kids ages 10-14, as well as developing and implementing strategies for them to use to become competitive at the high school level.

A standout at Fayetteville-Manlius high school in central New York, Martin was a three-year letterwinner, scoring 49 goals and adding 27 assists in his senior year alone. Martin was also named to the OHSL American Division First-Team, and All-Central New York Second-Team. Before coming to Grymes Hill, Martin went back to his high school alma mater and worked as an assistant coach, mainly handling the attack and man-up offense.
