Detroit, MI - The Wagner College men's lacrosse team received a hat trick from freshman attack Colin O'Rourke (Worcester, MA/St. John's Shrewsbury) but it was not enough as Detroit came away with a 14-7 victory.
The Seahawks, who came into the game having played four consecutive one-goal games, saw their record fall to 1-13 on the season, 1 -7 in the MAAC. With the victory, the Titans improve to 3-13 overall, 2-6 in the MAAC.
Detroit raced out to a 6-1 halftime lead and en route to building a formidable 14-4 advantage before the Seahawks capped the day by scoring the final three goals of the game to fashion the final score at 14-7.
Sophomore attack
Mike Hurley (Billerica, MA/Billerica) added two goals for Wagner while junior attack
Will Macumber (Manorville, NY/Eastport South Manor) and freshman attack
Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, PA/Episcopal Academy) notched one goal apiece.
Hurley and Macumber also had assists on the afternoon as did O'Rourke and junior midfielder
Tim Schweitzer (Babylon, NY/Babylon).
Detroit received a 14-save outing from Vance Diana while Wagner goalie
Michael Gutkin (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township).
The Titans out-shot Wagner 40-33 while the Seahawks led in ground balls 43-40 and won 13-of-24 face-offs.
Wagner will wind up the 2010 season at home vs. Robert Morris on Wednesday, May 5 at 1:00 pm in a make-up of the Feb. 28 game which was postponed due to inclement weather.
