Loretto, PA - No. 1 Robert Morris extended its winning streak to 13 games while running past No. 8 Wagner 68-52 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Quarterfinals at DeGol Arena. In defeat, the Green & White, who were playing in their first playoff game since the 2003-2004 campaign, finish up at 9-21 while the Colonials improve to 23-7.
Monica Jones led five double-figure scorers with 13 points while Vega Gimeno-Martinez recorded her first career double-double (11 points, 10 assists) for RMU, who will next meet Saint Francis (PA) tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
The Seahawks shot just 31.3 percent (20-64) for the game while connecting on an anemic 21.7 percent (5-23) from beyond the arc. The Colonials, meanwhile, were good on 46.0 percent (23-50), including 50.0 percent (9-18) on three pointers. The Green & White did control the glass by a 38-37 margin, including 17-10 on the offensive end.

Robert Morris scored the first four points of the game before Wagner rallied to cut it to 7-6 with a pair of three pointers from junior

Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ / St. Rose) banked in a jumper from the top of the key, cutting the deficit to 11-8 with 15:05 to play. Robert Morris then embarked on a 9-2 run, including seven-straight points from Kristine Silaraja, to take a 20-10 lead with 12:16 on the clock. Undaunted, the Seahawks ripped off six-straight points in cutting the deficit to 20-16 at the 10:34 mark.
After exchanging a pair of baskets, the Colonials ripped off a 13-4 run over the next 4:58, pushing the lead out to a half-high 13 at 35-22 with 4:34 to play until halftime. Archambault stopped the bleeding with a three pointer as the Green & White went into halftime down 38-27.
In the second half, the teams played even over the first three-plus minutes of the second half before Robert Morris flexed its muscles. The Colonials used three runs of at least seven-straight points over the next 8:26 while outscoring Wagner 22-10 during that time in building a 64-41 lead with 7:49 to play. The Seahawks outscored the Colonials 11-4 the rest of the way but ultimately fell 68-52.
Robert Morris shot 55.0 percent (11-20) in the pivotal second half, while Wagner was good on just 39.3 percent (11-28), including 18.2 percent (2-11) from long range.
