Stephanie McBride (Mechanicville, NY / Catholic Central) scored 23 of her career-high 26 points in the first half, leading the way for the Green & White.
With the win, the Seahawks improve to 8-14 and 5-6 in the NEC while Mountaineers falls to 8-13 and 4-7 in the NEC.
Wagner and Mount St. Mary's will again square off again on Saturday, February 6 at 3:00 pm in the Spiro Sports Center as part of the inaugural NEC Rivalry Week.
The Mountaineers opened up the second half by scoring the first five points, assuming a 40-37 lead with 17:49 to play. The Seahawks responded with a 12-1 spurt over the next 2:54. Senior
Andrea Reed (Pocomoke City, MD / Pocomoke) got things going with a lay-up before Mahoney converted an old-fashioned three-point play. Leah Westbrooks briefly quelled the run with a free throw, making it 42-41 with 15:08 to play. Junior
Ashley Olsen (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy) then banked in a three pointer and Reed converted a fast-break lay-up before two more free throws from Olsen, making it 49-41 with 13:59 to play.
Both teams then went cold over the next 4:35 combining for just three points while missing 13 shots and committing eight turnovers.
Olsen finally snapped the offensive futility with a three-pointer,extending the lead back out to 10 with 9:24 to play. With the lead still at 10, Mount St. Mary's ripped off nine-straight points while cutting it to 55-54 with 6:08 to play. Wagner responded with a lay-up from sophomore

The Mountaineers would continue to fight-and-claw, eventually reclaiming the lead at 62-61 with 1:19 to play, following a pair of Hassanah Oliver free throws. Oliver split another pair at the line, making a two-point game with 30 seconds before Mahoney drilled her game-winning shot with 22 seconds remaining. Mount St. Mary's had a chance to tie or take the lead with 7.9 seconds remaining but Sandra Andresson missed two free throws and Wagner ran out the clock, escaping Knott Arena with a 64-63 victory.
McBride scored her game-high 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including 7-of-12 from beyond the arc. Olsen went for double-figures for the fourth-straight game, hitting for 17 points with four rebounds over 38 minutes.
Oliver scored 14 points to lead three Mount players in double-figures as Westbrooks added 13 and Sydney Henderson deposited 12.
The leading scorers for both teams, Mahoney and Mary Dunn, combined for just seven points, all of which were scored by Mahoney, on 2-of-13 shooting, with nine turnovers. The two entered averaging 13.3 ppg and 11.8 ppg, respectively.
Wagner hit on just 37.0 percent from the floor (20-54), but was good on 42.9 percent (9-21) from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent (15-18) from the charity stripe. Mount St. Mary's was good on 44.9 percent (22-49), but was 27.3 percent (3-11) from long-range and 66.7 percent (16-24) from the charity stripe, including making just 1-of-4 in the game's final 30 seconds.
To say the first half was the McBride show would be an understatement as the junior guard scored 23 of the Seahawks' 37 points, including 11 of the first 14, on 6-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc after going scoreless in the last game. Helping set McBride up was Reed who notched five assists of her game-high seven assists in the opening stanza. The Green & White opened up a two-point halftime lead thanks to a 14-6 advantage in points off turnovers and 50.0 percent shooting (6-12) from outside. Mount St. Mary's stayed in the game by using a 14-6 advantage in points in the paint and an 8-0 margin in fast-break points.
Wagner jumped out to an early 18-8 lead, thanks to an early 10-0 run. The Mountaineers fought back to tie the game on two occasions before Olsen hit a pair from the line with 1.0 second remaining, making it 37-35 at intermission.
NOTES: The eight Seahawk wins are the most since the 2003-2004 campaign ... With the victory, Wagner improves to 5-6 in the league and is in tie for seventh place in the NEC with CCSU ... McBride's previous career-high of 20 points was set on December 30, 2008 against IUPUI ... Wagner is now 3-0 in games in which McBride was the team's leading scorer ...
