Fairfield, CT -
The Wagner Seahawks (4-9; 0-1 NEC) return to action on Thursday, January 7 with a game at Sacred Heart starting at 5:30 pm. The Green & White will be looking for their third-straight victory while snapping the defending NEC Champion Pioneers' 23-game winning streak against conference foes.

Wagner is coming off a thrilling 76-74 overtime victory against Saint Francis (PA) in which junior Megan Mahoney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) scored a career-high 31 points while classmate Sha'Ron Harrison (Paterson, NJ / John F. Kennedy) added 10 points and a career-best 18 rebounds for her third double-double of the year.

Live audio and video of the game will be provided by the Pioneers and can be accessed through the Wagner or Sacred Heart websites via the schedule/results page. Additionally the Seahawks Sport Information Department will be providing live TWITTER updates.

With A Win:
Wagner would snap Sacred Heart's 23-game winning streak against NEC Competition.

Win three games in a row since the 2003-2004 season (1/21 (@ LIU); 1/24 (SFNY); 1/26 (CCSU)).

Win back-to-back road games for the first time since the 2003-2004 season (1/21 (@ LIU); 2/7 (@ RMU)).

The Coaches -
Head coach Gela Mikalauskas is in her 16th season on the Wagner sidelines with a record of 197-238 record. Mikalauskas was the coach of the 1988-1989 Seahawk squad that won the program's only Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship. All-time, she is just 1-7 against the Pioneers.

Sacred Heart is led by Ed Swanson, who is 331-225 in 20 years at his alma mater. Last year, he guided the Pioneers to the program's second NEC Championship, a NCAA Tournament berth and a perfect 18-0 league record. All-time, he is 13-6 against the Green & White

The Series - Sacred Heart holds a commanding 14-7 advantage in the all-time series, having won nine-striaght match-ups dating back to the 2003-2004 season. During that time, the Pioneers have won by an average of 20.9 ppg. The Seahawks are also just 1-9, all-time, in Fairfield.

Scouting SHU - Sacred Heart (9-4; 2-0 NEC) is a talented perimeter-oriented squad that boasts arguably the top shooting unit in the NEC, hitting on an average of 44.1 percent from the floor, 44.4 percent from three-point range and 72.6 percent from the line.

Reigning NEC MVP Alisa Apo shifted from shooting guard to point guard and has shown no signs of a letdown, averaging 16.6 ppg, 6.0 apg, 3.5 rpg and 2.0 spg while shooting 40.9 percent from the floor and 37.8 percent from beyond the arc. Callan Taylor is second on the team with 15.5 ppg and a team-high 8.9 rpg. The second-year forward is shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 39.5 percent from outside. Maggie Cosgrove checks in next at 11.0 ppg and has established herself as the top outside shooter in the NEC, making 58.2 percent of her three-point attempts.

Last Year - Alisa Apo scored 24 points to lead Sacred Heart to an 80-68 victory over Wagner despite a then-career-high 20 points from junior Ashley Olsen (Staten Island, NY / Notre Dame Academy).

Mahoney Goes Off - Mahoney scored 21 of her career-high 31 points after halftime, including the game-winner in the Seahawks' 76-74 overtime victory at Saint Francis (PA) (1/4). The Fordham transfer, who hit on 13-22 from the floor, broke her previous high of 30 points against Saint Louis while playing for the Rams on January 12, 2008.

Mahoney has hit for double-figures in all four games she has played in while leading the team in scoring three times. On the year, she is averaging 17.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.5 spg and 1.8 apg while shooting 44.2 percent from the floor, 43.8 percent from beyond the arc and 85.0 percent from the charity stripe.

Archambault Saves The Day - Freshman Marie-Laurence Archambault's (Montreal, Quebec / Montmorency) three-pointer with no time remaining sent the Seahawks' game against the Red Flash (1/4) into overtime. For Archambault, who finished up with eight points and four rebounds, it was her second triple of the game after not collecting one during the previous two games.

On the year, she is connecting on 29.2 percent from long-range and is averaging 1.5 triples per game (10th NEC).

Did You Know -
The duo of Apo and Cosgrove are shooting just 38.0 percent (19-50) in three career games against the Green & White. However the talented backcourt is a perfect 23-of-23 from the line during that time.
