Emmitsburg, MD- The Wagner College women's swim team continued its undefeated Northeast Conference (NEC) streak on Saturday with a 125-70 win over Mount St. Mary's. With the victory, the Seahawks move to 5-4 overall, 4-0 in the NEC.
The Green and White completed the 11 event meet with nine first-place finishes. The Seahawks were led by sophomore
Jakki Guenther (South Hadley, MA / South Hadley HS) who brought home first-place times in the 200 meter IM (2:30.33) and the 200 meter backstroke (2:28.72).
Garnering their first collegiate wins of their Wagner careers were a pair of sophomores
Patricia Gavin (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Tech) in the 200 meter breaststroke and
Lauren Meyer (Hamden, CT / Hamden HS) in the 50 meter freestyle (29.55). Gavin's mark of 2:49.32 notched a Mount St. Mary's pool record.
Also receiving first-place finishes for Wagner were senior
Melanie Rodriguez-Lapman (Chesire, CT / Chesire) in the 800 meter freestyle (9:40), junior
Sarah Plucinsky (Allentown, PA / Allentown Central Catholic) in the 200 meter freestyle (2:17.72) and senior
Jessica Hart (Montreal, Canada / Northwest) in the 200 meter butterfly (2:21.39).
The Seahawks also took first in the 200 meter medley relay, with a time of 2:06.57, and 400 meter freestyle relay (4:12.56). Wagner's 200 medley relay team consisted of Guenther, junior
Bethny Brown (Enfield, CT / Ennco Fermi High), Hart and Plucinsky. The Seahawks 400 freestyle relay team was composed of Hart, freshman
Tatum Colitz (Wyomissing, PA / Wilson), freshman
Dana Samuel (Rivonia/ South Africa / Crawford College) and Rodriguez-Lapman.
Wagner returns to action Saturday, January 23rd when the Seahawks host Rhode Island in a dual meet at 1:00PM.
