Villane Takes Third in 400MH at Spider Relays

Junior Kevin Kearney finished the 800 meter run with a team-best mark of 2:01.13.

Richmond, VA – Matt Villane (Monmouth Beach, NJ/Shore Regional)
provided the men's best finish as the Wagner College Track and Field team participated in the Spider Relays held at the Sports Backers Stadium at the University of Richmond. Villane was one of many Seahawks who represented the Green & White well in their second competition this Spring.

Villane, a junior, provided the high point for the Seahawks, finishing the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.82. His third place finish was the highest for the Wagner men. His performance also improved on his 56.71 performance the week before at the Stockton invitational.

Junior #Kevin Kearney# (Haddonfield, NJ/ St. Joe's Prep) led a pack of Seahawks to impressive finishes in the 800 meter run. His team-best 2:01.13 mark was 13th among 24 runners. Sophomore Brian Doxey (West Islip, NY/West Islip) and freshman Colin Macdonald (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) finished 18th and 19th with times of 2:04.98 and 2:05.05 respectively.

Other top-spots for the Seahawks included sophomore Derek Schultz (Ocean Port, NJ/Shore Regional), who cracked the top-ten with a 51.30 finish in the 400 meter dash. Freshman Thomas Iannacone (Haverton, PA/St. Joe's Prep) started his spring off on a good note with an 11 th place in the 1500 meter run, while Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) impressed with a gutsy 11 th place finish in the 5000 meter run (15:32.74).

In the field events, Blake Lintelman (Coral Springs, FL/West Point) continued to improve with a ninth-place finish in the shot put (13.57 meters) and a ninth-place finishing again in the discus throw with a team-best 36.27 meters.

Next, the Seahawks will compete in their first home track meet of the season. The event will take place all day Saturday at Wagner College Stadium.
