BOX SCORE

Hamden, CT –
Quinnipiac used a 19-4 run early in the second half to break open what was a five-point contest on the way to a 77-65 win over Wagner at the TD Banknorth Sports Center in the 1000th game in program history. With the loss, the Seahawks end their season with a 7-22 record, including a 3-15 mark in the Northeast Conference (NEC) while the Bobcats are 18-10 and 11-7 in the NEC.

The Green & White posted its best rebounding margin of the year, winning the battle of the boards, 42-30, and shot 44.2 percent (23-52) from the floor, including 35.3 percent (6-17) from beyond the arc. Quinnipiac hit on 41.9 percent (26-62), including a scorching 51.7 percent (15-29) in the second stanza, while forcing 23 Wagner miscues that led to a 17-8 advantage in points off turnovers.

Up 9-6 with 15:19 to go in the first, the Bobcats embarked on an 11-4 run over the next 4:27 while assuming a 20-10 lead with 10:52 remaining. Wagner responded with a 13-3 spurt to tie the game at 23-23 with 4:18 to go. Five different Seahawks scored during the spurt, which took 9:56 off the clock, and the defense forced the Bobcats into 1-11 shooting during that time. After exchanging buckets, the Bobcats scored eight-straight points before junior Naomi Augustin (Valley Stream, NY / Valley Stream Central) closed the half with a three pointer, cutting the Bobcat lead to 33-28 at intermission.

Wagner shot a blistering 48.0 percent (12-25) from the floor in the initial stanza, led by junior Andrea Reed's (Pocomoke City, MD / Pocomoke) 12 points, on 6-9 shooting. The Seahawks won the battle of the boards 21-17 while limiting the Bobcat offense to just 33.6 percent (11-33) shooting. Quinnipiac owned the halftime advantage thanks to 5-10 shooting from long range.

The Bobcats used an 8-0 spurt early in the second half to extend its lead out to 45-32 while forcing a Wagner timeout at the 14:15 mark. Freshman Kelly Clark (Neptune, NJ / St. Rose) scored the next four points for the Seahawks with a Quinnipiac three-point play sandwiched between the buckets to briefly quell the Quinnipiac surge. The Bobcats then reeled off eight-straight points, pushing the lead out to a game-high 20 at 56-36 with 10:09 remaining. Wagner would cut it to 11 with 53 seconds remaining on senior Casey Stokes' (Hummelstown, PA / Lower Dauphin) second triple of the game but could get no closer, falling 77-65

Clark led the way for the Green & White with her first career double-double, notching 11 points and a career-best matching 11 rebounds with three blocks over a career-high 32 minutes of action. After scoring in double-digits in just five of her first 25 career games, Clark hit for double-figures in each of the last four games while averaging 12.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg and shooting 53.8 percent during that time. She also finished up her first year on Grymes Hill with 51 blocks, the fourth-most in school history.

Junior John'a Poole (Middle River, MD / Eastern Tech) scored nine of her 13 points in the second half, on 6-10 shooting, and added five rebounds while Reed also hit for 13 points with six assists and four rebounds. Reed concluded her junior campaign with averages of 13.0 ppg, 5.1 apg and 2.2 spg, all of which rank among the top-10 in the NEC.

Stokes scored eight points with five rebounds in her final collegiate game and ended her career with 93 three pointers, ranking seventh on the Wagner career three-point list. She also started the last 38 games of her career and was the only Seahawk to start all 29 games this season and hit on 93.1 percent (27-29) from the line.

Wagner returns 10 student-athletes next season while welcoming four to the fold.
