BOX SCORE

Staten Island, NY –
Behind Andrea Reed's (Jr., Pocomoke City, MD / Pocomoke) career-high 25 points, including 19 in the second half, the Wagner Seahawks avenged a 16-point second half deficit in a 58-53 win over Saint Peter's at the Spiro Sports Center.

Reed set school-records for most free throws (15) and free throw attempts (18) as Wagner shot a blistering 81.1 percent (30-37) from the charity stripe, including 85.7 percent (24-28) in the second half.

With the win, the Seahawks are now 4-5 while the Peahens fall 2-6.

Trailing 41-31 with 6:39 remaining to go in the game the Green & White made their move. After Reed nailed four-straight free throws, she converted an old-fashioned three-point play to make it 41-38 with 5:27 to go. Sophomore Stephanie McBride (Mechanicville, NY / Catholic Central) then stole the ball from Adenike Oyesile and converted the fast-break lay-up to cut the lead to one. After Saint Peter's temporarily stopped the bleeding with a free throw, McBride nailed a three pointer to give Wagner its first lead of the game at 43-42 with 4:42 to go.

The Peahens reclaimed the lead with a pair of free throws before Reed gave the Seahawks the lead for good with four-straight free throws to push the lead out to 47-44 with just 2:13 to go. After Saint Peter's hit a pair for the line, McBride delivered the dagger with her second three pointer of the day to make it a two-possession game at 50-46. Junior John'a Poole (Middle River, MD / Eastern Tech) extended the lead out to 52-46 with a lay-up before Reed and the Seahawks closed out the game from the line, converting on six of their last seven to win going away 58-53.

Reed also paced the Green & White in rebounding with seven while handing out four assists and collecting three steals. McBride scored 14 of her career-high 15 points after intermission while also recording four steals.

Tania Kennedy scored 11 points while Sakara House and Natasha Morris each added 10 to pace Saint Peter's.

In the first half, Saint Peter's scored the nine points of the game before freshman Kanifa Hicks (Paterson, NJ / Passaic County Tech) knocked down a pair of free throws with 14:07. The Peahens then responded with a triple before the Seahawks scored seven-straight points to cut the deficit to 12-9 at the 9:49 mark on a pair of Reed jumpers and a baseline jumper from freshman Brittney Thorpe (Newport News, VA / Heritage). The Seahawks would again slice the lead to three on two more occasions before Saint Peter's scored the final 10 points of the half while holding Wagner scoreless over the last 6:06 of the first half.
