Fairfield, CT – The Wagner men's cross country team took fourth place out of a field of 14 at the Central Connecticut University Mini-Meet while clocking in as the top Northeast Conference team at the meet, topping the times of Long Island Univeristy and host Central Connecticut along with future NEC foe Bryant University.
At the front of the Green & White group was freshman
Zachary Spector (Yaphank, NY/Longwood) running a time of 15:33 for the 5 kilometer course. Spector's finish was good for 11th place and only trailed Central Connecticut's Ryan Sanderson in the field of NEC finishers.
Sophomore
Thomas Rammelkamp (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) followed in hot pursuit, finishing a mere six seconds behind Spector for a time of 15:39, good for 15th place. Freshman
Thomas Iannacone (Havertown, PA/St. Joe's Prep)and junior
James Johnston (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) were the next of the Seahawks to cross the finish line finishing with times of 15:48 and 15:51, respectively. Finishing out the Seahawk scorers was graduate student
Brian Halling (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) placing 39th with a time of 16:04.
“The meet was a great success both physically and mentally,” notes head coach
Joe Stasi. “All the men ran extremely well which is important going into next weekend.”
