Sophomore Stephanie Blais (Sherbrooke, Quebec/ Montmorency) is the Wagner College Women’s Student-Athlete of the Month for December. The 6-2 forward is clearly one of the most improved players in the NEC. As a freshman last season, she averaged 3.6 points in 11.7 minutes of playing time. Through the first month of the season, Blais was checking in at a team-best 12.4 points and 4.4 rebounds while playing 31.4 minutes per game, highlighted by a 20-point outing vs. Lehigh on November 23. Blais displayed tremendous consistency in the Seahawks’ five November contests, hitting for double figures in four. She opened the season with a solid 13-point, 3-rebound, two-assist effort vs. Army (11/9). She followed that effort up with another 13-point game, this time adding five rebounds and three blocks, in carrying Wagner to a 61-47 win at Columbia (11/14). Her other double-digit games came vs. Lehigh (11/23), the aforementioned 20-point outing against the Mountain Hawks, before closing the month with an 11-point affair vs. Lafayette. For the month, Blais shot 49% from the field, including 44% from three-point range.
