STATEN ISLAND, N.Y — The Wagner College softball team wrapped up its 2026 regular season with a 5-4 win over Saint Francis at the Wagner Softball Field on Sunday.
The Seahawks trailed 2-0 until the bottom of the third inning when Wagner strung together four runs to take a two-score lead. Senior Lea Rachal doubled to left center, scoring sophomore Alayna Giampolo, senior Geanice Morales, and senior Brityn Buchanan. Senior Sydnie Trujillo hit a single to center field on the next at-bat to score Rachal.
Saint Francis tied the game at four with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.
In the bottom half of the inning, Buchanan earned an RBI on a single to center to grant the Seahawks the lead.
Freshman Samantha Lotus finished the game with 2.2 innings pitched, three strikeouts, and the win to give her a record of 8-11 on the season. Junior Karson Zavala started the game for Wagner, going 4.1 with five strikeouts and allowing four runs.
With the win, Wagner concludes its 2026 regular season with a 19-26 record and a 14-10 mark in NEC action. The Seahawks continue their season with the NEC Tournament set to begin on Thursday, May 7 on the Brooklyn campus of LIU.
