GRASONVILLE, MD. – The Wagner College women's golf team opened its spring season at the Women's Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay, competing over two days at Prospect Bay Country Club.
The Seahawks finished in eight place out of 12 competing teams, carding an 82-over par 658 (329-329) following two rounds of action.
Freshman
Palwasha Ali led the way for Wagner, recording an impressive total of 13-over par 157 (75–82) across the two rounds. Ali showed some improvement on day one, getting a 3-over par 72, one of the strongest rounds of the tournament for the Seahawks.
Senior
Rileigh Leighton followed behind, finishing with a 22-over par 166 (83–83). Leighton delivered two of the lowest rounds of the weekend for Wagner with a 11-over par 83 in both rounds. Freshman
Lani Park carded a 24-over par 168 (84–84) to finish the event. Park recording two birdies on each round. Sophomore
Maria Calleja Pineda finished at 27-over par 171 (91–80). Calleja Pineda's carded a total of eight bogeys the first round and three the second.
Senior
Josephine Sawyer rounded out the scoring lineup, from an opening-round 87 to post a 90 in the second round, finishing at 33-over par 177 (87–90).
Senior
Emma Shelby competed as well for Wagner, recording a 41-over par 185 (94–91) over the two days.
The Seahawks will return to action on April 3 when they travel to Hempstead, NY for a tri-match against Hofstra and Iona.
