LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. — The Wagner College women's golf team captured first place out of three teams at the Tri-Match versus Saint Joseph's and La Salle, hosted at Union League Liberty Hill on Sunday.
The Seahawks posted a team score of 35-over par 323, finishing ahead of both Saint Joseph's and La Salle in the head-to-head competition.
Senior
Rileigh Leighton led the way for Wagner, carding a round of 8-over par 80 to claim the top individual finish. Leighton recorded three birdies on the day, finding success on holes 9, 10, and 18 to pace the Seahawks.
Freshman
Lani Park, sophomore
Maria Calleja Pineda, and freshman
Palwasha Ali each tied for second place with rounds of nine-over par 81. Park notched a birdie on hole 9, while Calleja Pineda tallied three birdies of her own on holes 1, 3, and 16. Ali delivered one of the highlights of the day, recording an eagle on hole 18 to cap off her round.
With the win, Wagner will head to Ellicott City, Maryland for the NEC Championship, set to take place from April 16-19 at Turf Valley Resort.
