STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner women's tennis team lost to FDU in shutout fashion on Saturday, falling to 1-1 in conference play after the 7-0 defeat.
The Seahawks would only pick up one individual win on the day, when senior
Samantha Bentsianov and sophomore
Liepa Sataite defeated FDU's doubles pair 6-4 on court 3. Sophomore
Victoria Madail and junior
Dariana Vera forced an extra game in their doubles match on court 1, tying the match at five games apiece. But FDU was able to take the last two games, and the doubles point.
The Knights went on to win every singles match in straight sets, securing a 7-0 victory. Freshman
Alexia Estrada came closest to stealing the first set of her match on court 4, when she forced an extra game. However, she ultimately dropped the set, and the match.
