BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Sophomore
Liepa Sataite was named the NEC Player of the Week for her performance against Colgate, the conference announced Thursday. This is Sataite's first weekly award of her Wagner career, and the program's first Player of the Week win since Avika Sagwal won it in September of 2015.
Despite the 4-3 loss against Colgate on Feb. 20, Sataite joined senior
Samantha Bentsianov in winning their doubles match 6-3, which helped secure the doubles point in the match. Afterwards, Sataite took the court in second singles and won in straight sets (6-2, 7-5).
Sophomore
Victoria Madail was also named an NEC Prime Performer this week for her performance. She joined junior
Dariana Vera in first doubles to win their match 6-3, then Madail won the last two sets in her singles match to overcome her set-one loss and take the victory (1-6, 6-1, 6-4).
The Seahawks will return to the courts on Sunday, March 1, when they host Monmouth at the CSI Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
