STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Wagner women's tennis team played their first conference match of the year on Friday, when they defeated Stonehill at home, 5-2.
The Seahawks won the first doubles match of the night, as senior
Samantha Bentsianov and sophopmore
Liepa Sataite took the 6-1 victory on court 3. However, they dropped the next two doubles matches, lost the doubles point and fell behind 1-0.
Sataite and Bentsianov continued their night by winning their singles matches in straight sets. Freshman
Alexia Estrada dropped only three games in her straight-set win, and after sophomore
Victoria Madail lost her match in three sets, her doubles partner, junior
Dariana Vera, deffeated her opponent on court 5 two sets to none. Vera's win gave Wagner a 4-2 lead, clinching the win.
Sophomore
Claudia Lindsey tacked on one more point after the clincher to make the final score 5-2.
